What is the Mid Rift Tourism Forum?

The Mid Rift Tourism Forum is a facilitator for people with a common goal of promoting tourism in Kenya's Rift Valley region. It provides the place and the occasion to get together to help the industry grow. 

Our steering Forum Committee comprises a group of people drawn from the Private Sector as well as the four local District Councils in the area.

Ol Teppes Island


Ol Teppes Island Cottage is being launched at the end of February 2012 with a visit from Pembroke House School. The island is east of Ol Kokwe and is completely unspoilt.

The new tourist venue comprises a traditional thatched house which can sleep 6, and an adjoining campsite with showers and flush toilets designed for visiting groups. The island is one of the most peaceful locations on the increasingly busy Lake and is available for full board clients as well as self - catering groups.

Translocation of Giraffe to Ruko Conservancy, Lake Baringo

A small population of Baringo Giraffe (or Rothchild Giraffe) were recently translocated on a raft across Lake Baringo to their new home at Longicharo, Ruko Conservancy. Read more about these exciting developments at the Ruko website.
